IBM CommonStore 8.3 - Technical Overview
Components
There are four key components to IBM CommonStore
1. An update to the eMail client so that archive functions are integrated into the interface. The CommonStore server is an application independent archiving engine, it does not have to know where content comes from, what format it is or what the content is. Additionally two Notes databases are used, one for configuration (CSLD configuration for Domino and CSX System for Exchange) and one for jobs (CSLD job for Domino and CSX Task for Exchange)
2. A CommonStore server at the heart of CommonStore maintains the list of logical archives, and controls the flow of information to and from these archives.
3. A Content Manager server which controls the digital assets. IBM CommonStore controls the archive using agents using the CM's API running on the same server as the CommonStore Server. The option exists to deploy onto Tivoli Storage Manager or IBM Content Manager. Only IBM Content Manager supports Extended Search functionality
4. A Database to work as a record repository. IBM DB2 is included with IBM CommonStore server
